Frequently Asked Questions

You'll get the most out of the course with any DSLR or mirrorless camera that allows manual control over aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Many advanced compact cameras (like some bridge cameras) also offer these controls and would be suitable. If you're unsure whether your camera is appropriate, please don't hesitate to contact us with the model details, and we'll gladly advise you!
Absolutely no prior experience is necessary for our Beginner Photography Fundamentals course! It's designed specifically for those starting from scratch. For our more advanced courses, such as the Lens Selection Guide or RAW Processing Workshop, some basic understanding of camera operation (like knowing how to change settings) is beneficial. Check the specific course description page for any prerequisites, or feel free to contact us for personalized guidance on which course is right for you.
Our RAW Processing workshop primarily focuses on the industry-standard Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), which is part of Photoshop. However, the core principles and techniques we teach – covering workflow, exposure adjustment, color correction, sharpening, etc. – are universally applicable and can be adapted to other popular RAW editors like Capture One, DxO PhotoLab, or Affinity Photo. The goal is to understand the 'why' behind the adjustments, not just the 'how' in one specific program.
Most of our theory and classroom-based sessions, including the RAW processing workshop, are conveniently held at our dedicated training space located at Suite 10, 42 Flinders Lane in Melbourne CBD. For courses involving practical shooting exercises, like the Beginner Fundamentals and Natural Light workshops, we utilize various scenic and photogenic locations around Melbourne and its outskirts to provide real-world practice. The specific locations for practical sessions are always detailed in the course information provided upon enrollment.
We understand that plans can change. For detailed information regarding cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds, please refer to our full Terms of Service page (you can find the link in the footer). As a general guideline for our workshops, we typically require at least 7 days' notice prior to the course start date for a full refund or free rescheduling. Cancellations made closer to the date may incur a fee or result in forfeiture of the course cost, depending on the circumstances and timing.
